The Refuge for the Soul
A Poem by Steven Delco
In twilight's hush, where shadows dance and play, A world in chaos, torn apart by disarray, Hope flickers faint, a dying ember's gleam, As darkness closes in, a suffocating dream. Yet, in this void, I find a peaceful nest, A refuge from the storm, where art and beauty rest, In strokes of color, vibrant, bold and bright, I paint the world I see, and bring forth the morning light. The violin's sweet voice, a Mozart phrase, Echoes through my soul, and whispers, guiding me through the maze, The music swirls, a maelstrom of emotion's tide, And in its depths, I find a solace, where heart and spirit reside. And when the words I write flow forth, a river's endless stream, I write of new worlds unseen, where humanity's dream Is born, renewed, and vitalized, in all its forms, A testament to hope, that even in darkness, art and light can transform. But I am not alone in this quest for a peaceful shore, For everyone can find a refuge, a sanctuary to adore, In flow's sweet embrace, where time and space entwine, Each person can discover their inner peace, their own heart's rhyme. In every activity, a world of transcendence awaits, A realm where pain and suffering fade, while sweetness and joy create, The painter's brush, the musician's note, the writer's word, The dancer's step, the athlete's stride, the gardener's gentle herd. So let us seek our own flow, our own creative flair, And in its warmth, find solace from the world's heart-wrenching despair. For in this refuge, we'll discover a strength we never knew, A resilience that will carry us beyond, and see us through. For in the face of pain and suffering, we can find a peaceful place, A sanctuary of hope, where arts beauty fills the space, And though the world may seem to crumble, and darkness closes in, We'll find a refuge in our flow space, where our hearts can always win.
